Farwell Utah! Our Last Day was spent at Lagoon!

Our Final day in Utah was spent at Lagoon. The kids had a blast. It was really fun taking Savannah since she is more daring to go on the rides this year. The kids were having so much fun that we were there until 10:00 in the evening. After an 11 hour day we were exhausted. We stayed overnight in Salt Lake City since our flight home was early the next morning. We are all really sad to be heading home and had a great time. It weird that when you spend time with family sometimes it feels like you never left.

Farwell Logan!

Our last day in Logan consisted of visiting Great Grandpa Martindale at his apartment, lunch at Fredrico’s Pizza, followed by a yummy Aggie Ice Cream Cone.

In the evening we went to a little place that we called Narnia (my dad has a friend with some property with a stream and lots of trees) where we cooked hot dogs and smores. The kids were in heaven and loved the swings and playing in the stream.

Farwell Bear Lake!

We are at the end of our pirate journey and are heading home from the cabin today. Of course, we are sad. The kids were excited to open the pirate chest one final time. Savannah and Riley had earned the most gold coins and had saved a lot until the last day. Grandpa and Grandma gave the kids pirate books to help them each remember The Pirates of Bear Lake Summer Adventure at the Cabin. Of course, my dad didn’t let us down a bit and outdid himself again this year. It has been great fun and definitely a summer to remember.

Top 10 Reasons Why I love the cabin;
1) Watching old movies that I never get a chance to watch and playing games
2) Spending quality time with and watching my kids, nieces and nephews
3) Bonding with and getting to know my brothers, sisters and parents better
4) Eating all my favorite snacks
5) Grilling and fixing all my favorite meals
6) Spending time at the Lake and riding wave-runners
7) Going to Pickleville playhouse
8) Cool evenings
9) Sleeping in and taking naps
10) No worry of needing to be anywhere and doing absolutely nothing

All five kids were exhausted on the way home.

Day 5 Pirates of Bear Lake

We awoke and started to get ready to head to the Lake. Payton has been so excited about the treasure box that he went into Grandma’s room and decided to help himself to a stuffed animal puppy. He came out of the room and told Grandma “I will pay you for this later”, referring to his pirate coins.

The kids were anxious to go since they knew today would be the day they would dig for the treasure chest. We spent the day at the Lake playing in the sand and on the wave-runner. The kids had a blast. Payton was truly exhausted and fell asleep while riding on the wave-runner with Kelsey. While sitting on the beach, Grandpa lined up a board in the water and had an activity where the kids had to walk the Plank blindfolded.
The kids found a glass bottle in the lake that contained a note which gave them their next clue to where the treasure box was; Grandpa hid the treasure chest in the sand earlier. The kids were directed to dig where several pirate flags were placed. After digging for several minutes, they finally struck something which ended up being the treasure chest. Buried with the chest was a clue directing them where they would find the key to unlock the chest, which would be on one of the skeletons that had been placed around our canopy. The kids found the key and continued to dig for the treasure chest. It took them a while since it was large. When they found the key and opened the box, to all of our surprise was Grandpa’s spare change that he had been collecting the past two years. Also in the chest were one dollar coins and dollar bills, paper pirate money, gems (quartz crystals), and gold (fool's gold). The kids started chanting in unison, "we are rich, we are rich...". We told the kids that they needed to wait until we were back at the cabin to count and divy up their loot, they were so excited that they could hardly wait. When we returned to the cabin, the kids gathered around the table and all participated in counting the money, each had a different way that they thought we should count the money. While counting the money, they had several funny comments, such as, "wow, Grandpa must be poor now, we have taken all of his money”, “now we can buy anything that we want at the dollar store”. Riley responded, “oh no, now we can buy the dollar store.” When finished, we were surprised to find $362.00 in the treasure chest. Split 6 ways the kids got $60.00 each.

We ended the evening with a piñata. Payton was so thrilled he walked around with the stick saying “I will break it open.”

Evening time Grandpa gave each family a pirate blanket and the kids sat next to Grandpa and watched the movie Pirate’s of the Caribbean.
