Day 3 of our Wild Wild West Adventure

The kids went to look for the Pony Express Mail first thing in the morning and found a huge rattle snake wrapped around the pole. The first letter for the day read…. In the Wild Wild West there are many dangers! One is the RATTLESNAKE. This morning we are going to round up as many RATTLESNAKES as we can so our parents won’t get hurt! Eat Breakfast first! You must be very very careful today!!! Grandpa’s first activity of the day consisted of a Rattle Snake Round up. Grandpa hid rattle snakes around and the kids had to round them up so the rattle snakes wouldn’t bite their parents. The kids got to keep their rattle snakes for their prize as well as getting rattles snake suckers. Grandpa gave all the kids Rattle Snake Eggs.

Day 3 consisted of visiting more Geysers, The Fire Hole Falls, The Midway Basin and a picnic at Mammoth. We packed our lunch every morning to start our day. It was quit the process of getting everyone breakfast and getting lunch packed to adventure out for the day.

The second letter came later that afternoon, the letter read… In the Wild Wild West they didn’t always have guns and knives. Sometimes they had to find other ways to hunt or defend themselves. Also their kill had to be used for clothing- like coon skin hats. They would also use the skins and feathers to make dream catchers! See how good of a sling shot you are! Thanks for being good Rangers today in the Wild West. The next activity was The Davy Crocket game. Grandpa talked to the kids about how In the Wild Wild West sometimes you have to make your clothing out of animal fur and the kids all got real raccoon hats and sling shots carved out of animals. Grandpa talked to the kids about how the Indians didn’t always have guns so they needed sling shots. The kids had to use their sling shots to knock over chips, nerds, cookies and candies which they got to keep for their prize. The next activity was talking about Dream Catchers. Grandma gave each of the kids a dream catcher and talked to them about how the Indians used to hang them by their bed at night and when you sleep it captures all the good and bad dreams in the web. It will keep the bad dreams in the web so that you won’t dream them again. The last activity the kids were given Hand Made Ancient Indian Flutes which are called The Ocarina. Grandma talked to the kids about how the Indians used to make them. The Ocarina is the oldest known flute in the world and the kids enjoyed playing them.

We decided to change Payton’s name to the kissing bandit since he is running around kissing everyone.

Day 2 of our Wild Wild West Adventure

The kids awoke and found their letter from Grandpa in the Pony Express Mail. The letter read... Howdy Cowboys and Cowgirls! Today the Wild Wild West Adventure Begins!!! Today you will choose your name. Cowboys and Cowgirls need a Hat and scarf! Grandpa will tell us about the most wanted posters. Let's pack a lunch and head into Yellowstone Park today. Watch for Pony Express mail for cowboy and cowgirl activities! Let's have lots of fun!

Activities for the day included an adventure and hike to Old Faithful. Grandpa had walking sticks for all the kids to walk around with. The kids did an awesome job hiking to see all the geysers during our visit to Old Faithful. Payton tripped into a bench and bruised his eye and cheek. It wouldn’t be a typical vacation if Payton didn’t trip and bruise his face.

After our adventure hiking to Old Faithful the kids arrived back to the cabin and found their second letter in the Pony Express Mail. The letter read... It is now time to begin our cowboy and cowgirl games. Everyone needs to bring their hat and scarf. If you don't eat your dinner you cannot play. Hope that you had a great day at Old Faithful. Grandpa and Grandma gave the kids Guns for the day to start their Cowboy Adventure. The games for the day included a quizzy learning game where Grandma asked the kids questions about the discovery Research Center which we had visited last night and earlier this morning. The kids earned squishy bears when they answered the questions correctly. Grandma also talked to the kids about what you should do if you come in contact with a bear. The following activity Grandpa had the kids lassoing Snacks such as Cheese Balls, Carmel Popcorn, Pop and Candy with a Rope. After that Grandpa’s next game was a cowboy and Indian search. Grandpa hid cowboys and Indians outside and the kids searched for them. For every cowboy and Indian the kids returned they received a quarter. The last game consisted of throwing their cowboy hat through a Hula Hoop the prize for that game was a dollar bill. Payton spent the evening walking around telling everyone that he had a real gun. Payton is having so much fun dressing up like a cowboy; I am enjoying watching him get so excited.
